40Purpose

What this policy is for

Anyone may publish a setup guide. This page sets out how ours are produced, so a reader can judge how much weight to give them.

CogniAutoHome is published by MEET. These pages describe how Alexa onboarding works as a sequence. They are written to be read in advance rather than consulted mid-session, and they stop deliberately short of diagnosing specific equipment.

41Method

How pages are researched and written

Sources. Manufacturers' own published specifications and documentation, the published standards for the protocols described, and direct experience with the equipment. Where a claim is contested or varies by model, we say so rather than selecting whichever version reads more cleanly.

Human review before publication. Every page is read in full by a person before it goes live and checked against current documentation. Drafting may be assisted by software; publication is not automatic, and nothing appears here that a person has not read and approved.

Terminology. Technical terms are defined at first use. Where an industry term is unavoidable we explain it rather than assuming it.

Ageing. Firmware, applications and router interfaces change. Menu paths date faster than concepts, which is why these pages lead with how a process works and treat exact screen locations as illustrative.

42Corrections

Corrections

We get things wrong. When we do, we correct them.

Errors of fact are corrected as soon as they are confirmed, on every page where the error appears rather than only the page it was reported on. Where a correction materially changes the meaning of a passage, we note the change rather than editing silently.

One example, recorded here because it is instructive: earlier versions of these pages implied that Echo devices were engineered for the 2.4 GHz band alone. Mainstream Echo and Echo Dot models are dual-band across the range. The practical advice to prefer 2.4 GHz was sound; the reason given was not, and has been corrected throughout.

To report an error, use the contact page. Give the page and what you believe the correct position to be, and we will check it against the manufacturer's documentation.

43Independence

Independence and commercial relationships

We are not affiliated with, authorised by, sponsored by or endorsed by any device manufacturer. No manufacturer reviews, approves or influences what appears here.

We accept no payment for coverage, for favourable treatment, or for the inclusion or omission of any product. Should that ever change, this page will say so plainly and any affected material will be labelled.

We may carry advertising, and where we do it is visually distinct from editorial content. Advertisers have no input into what we publish.

Where these pages discuss a manufacturer's product, the manufacturer has had no say in what is said about it.

44Limits

The limits of what we publish

We publish explanation, not remediation. We do not publish step-by-step fault resolution, hardware reset procedures, symptom-to-action tables, or instructions aimed at recovering accounts or bypassing security measures.

That is a deliberate boundary rather than an omission. Guidance of that kind requires knowing what is actually in front of the reader, and a published page cannot know it. It is also the territory in which readers are most frequently misled by parties presenting themselves as help.

For anything specific to a reader's own equipment or account, we point to the manufacturer.
